This research focuses on the working and development of wireless robotic hand system. In this research previously developed models have been studied. After analysis of those models, a better approach has been presented in this research. The objective of this research is to design and develop a tele-operated robotic hand system. The robotic hand is intended for providing solutions to industrial problems like robot reprogramming, industrial automation and safety of the workers working in hostile environments. The robotic hand system works in the master slave configuration where Bluetooth is being used as the communication channel for the tele-operation. The master is a glove, embedded with sensors to detect the movement of every joint present in the hand, which a human operator can wear. This joint movement is transferred to the slave robotic hand which will mimic the movement of human operator. The robotic hand is a multi fingered dexterous and anthropomorphic hand. All the fingers are capable of performing flexion, extension, abduction, adduction and hence circumduction. A new combination of pneumatic muscles and springs has been used for the actuation purpose. As a result, this combination reduces the size of the robotic hand by decreasing the number of pneumatic muscles used. The pneumatic muscles are controlled by the opening and closing of solenoid valves. A novel technique has been used in the robotic hand for tendon routing, which gives the ability of independence to all finger joints. The heart of all the control mechanism of the system is mbed microcontroller. The designed system was tested at different module levels. The results show the successful establishment of communication between master and slave at a rate of 10 packets per second, which was sufficient for smooth motion of the system. The amount of torque produced at all the joints in the robotic hand has been presented in this research. The posture tests have been performed in which two fingers were actuated which followed the master. This system has achieved motion of fingers without any tendon coupling problem. The system is able to replace the human industrial workers performing dexterous tasks

The Problem Of Adverse Selection In Business Education

    Get PDF
The quality of output from a process, to a substantial extent, depends upon quality of the input. The performance of an educational institution badly suffers when it faces a ‘wear out’ in the quality of its in-take. Sometimes it is a deficient induction criterion due to which inappropriate elements hold majority in admitted population of an institution. In this paper, the case of a business education institute, which has been facing a similar problem, is discussed. The authors construct various propositions concerning the relevant ‘concepts of interest’ and then gauge their truth value through a survey of archival records of admitted students with an intent of establishing a cause-and-effect relationship between admission policy and the students’ academic performance

Antecedents, Consequences And Control Of Opportunistic Behavior In Strategic Networks

    Get PDF
In the Strategic Management literature, the problem of cooperation arising from conflicts of interest has been described as the problem of motivation. Under assumptions of self-interest, or its stronger forms (such as opportunism), collectively beneficial outcomes do not result for because of the actions motivated by the self interests of individual members. In this paper, the author presents a host of antecedents that can spur and/or facilitate such opportunistic pursuits in members of a strategic network. The influence of these antecedents has been reflected in the ex-ante and ex-post phases of network life cycle. It is postulated that the problem can be resolved by securing an alignment in partners’ interest which together with alignment in actions contributes to the bottom line through increased ability to yield an integrated response to the adaptation requirements stemming from disturbances in networks’ environment. A detailed discussion been administered on how opportunism can be controlled through formal measures like contracts, TSIs, vertical integration and game theoretic stipulations,  and the informal controls like relational norms, identification, and culmination of trust and commitment

Der Wiener Deewan: A Case Study Of Start-Up Success

Conventional wisdom, when blended with unorthodoxies in innovativeness, can produce miraculous success stories like Der Wiener Deewan. The restaurant’s marketing strategy is full of such unorthodox gimmicks and has a great deal of learning potential for the small business entrepreneurs who are capable, willing and brave enough to denounce the stagnant customary practices. The case study will contribute to the contemporary literature in small business management, entrepreneurship, customer relations management (CRM), and retailing

There are lots of reasons to purchase counterfeits in this world. People purchase counterfeits due to its low price, to seek social status, due to their low income etc. The sale of counterfeits has a great effect on any country’s economy and it also damages the intellectual property rights. So the research in this matter is a dire need in market. Several Research Studies in the world have discussed reasons of buying counterfeits in different regions. This research paper aims to understand the determinants of customer perception regarding purchase of counterfeit garments in Rahim Yar Khan Region. This paper tries to analyze whether these determinants are one of the reasons of buying counterfeits. A sample of 200 respondents was collected from the population. The collected data after being coded were analyzed using Statistical Package for Social sciences Research (SPSS) and various statistical tests were applied based on hypotheses and matching variables. In this study, by means of instance succession exploration we observed impact of foreign direct investment, exports and exchange rate on economy intensification of Pakistan. Information were collected from IMF  ,World Bank range figures since 1990 to 2010. We used four variables for this purpose like GDP; it is dependent variable and independent variables similar to Foreign Direct Investment, export and Exchange Rate. By using technique ofOLS and Unit Root Test, thepositive relationship sends abroad and foreign direct investment on GDP. The study conduct aims to analyze benefit of FDI in Pakistan. The objective of FDI is to earn maximum profit and show in form of administrative skills, superior knowledge, improved an employment opportunities, add to in government returns and cause decrease unemployment of country. Remittance inflows in 2004-05 reach US$ 1524 million as maximum if compared last three year in country. This finds FDI in Pakistan more appropriate areas are energy sector, IT and telecommunication, value additional material .Management of Pakistan responsive to significance FDI and results show that is important effect of export and FDI on an economy growth of Pakistan. Intelligent Breast Cancer Diagnosis with Heuristic-assisted Trans-Res-U-Net and Multiscale DenseNet using Mammogram Images

Breast cancer (BC) significantly contributes to cancer-related mortality in women, underscoring the criticality of early detection for optimal patient outcomes. A mammography is a key tool for identifying and diagnosing breast abnormalities; however, accurately distinguishing malignant mass lesions remains challenging. To address this issue, we propose a novel deep learning approach for BC screening utilizing mammography images. Our proposed model comprises three distinct stages: data collection from established benchmark sources, image segmentation employing an Atrous Convolution-based Attentive and Adaptive Trans-Res-UNet (ACA-ATRUNet) architecture, and BC identification via an Atrous Convolution-based Attentive and Adaptive Multi-scale DenseNet (ACA-AMDN) model. The hyperparameters within the ACA-ATRUNet and ACA-AMDN models are optimised using the Modified Mussel Length-based Eurasian Oystercatcher Optimization (MML-EOO) algorithm. Performance evaluation, leveraging multiple metrics, is conducted, and a comparative analysis against conventional methods is presented. Our experimental findings reveal that the proposed BC detection framework attains superior precision rates in early disease detection, demonstrating its potential to enhance mammography-based screening methodologies.Comment: 22 pages, 17 figures, 4 Tables and Appendix A: Supplementary Materia

Space-filling, multi-fractal, localized thermal spikes in silicon, germanium and zinc oxide

The mechanism responsible for the emission of clusters from heavy ion irradiated solids is proposed to be thermal spikes. Collision cascade-based theories describe atomic sputtering but cannot explain the consistently observed experimental evidence for significant cluster emission. Statistical thermodynamic arguments for thermal spikes are employed here for qualitative and quantitative estimation of the thermal spike-induced cluster emission from silicon, germanium and zinc oxide. The evolving cascades and spikes in elemental and molecular semiconducting solids are shown to have fractal characteristics. Power law potential is used to calculate the fractal dimension. The fractal dimension is shown to be dependent upon the exponent of the power law interatomic potential. Each irradiating ion has the probability of initiating a space-filling, multi-fractal thermal spike that may sublime a localized region near the surface by emitting clusters in relative ratios that depend upon the energies of formation of respective surface vacancies.Comment: 16 pages, 6 figure

Explaining Franchisors Tendency To Use Multi-Unit Franchising: Development Of A Theoretical Model

    Get PDF
In this theoretical paper, we give an overview of the development of literature on multi-unit franchising, discuss the theoretical and methodological deficits, and develop a model for empirical test. The main focus of existing franchising research has been on single unit franchising. Although several empirical studies were published on multi-unit franchising in the last decade, the research deficit primarily results from the lack of theoretical foundation of this ownership strategy in franchising networks. As an attempt to address this research gap, we develop an integrative model.  The propositions explain the franchisor’s tendency to use multi-unit franchising in context of transaction cost theory (franchisee’s specific investments and market uncertainty), resource based view (financial resources scarcity), organizational capabilities view (local market know-how and system specific assets) and agency theory (behavioral uncertainty). We plan to empirically test the proposed model in the near future
